WALDAS SHOES PROFITS.
The directors of Waldas Shoes, Ltd., Sydney, have issued a statement that for the past half-year business has been satisfactory. During the six months ended December, .1936, more shoes were sold than in the corresponding six months of 1935. An increased gross turnover in money also was achieved. The statement proceeds:— "The directors could, if they wished, declare and pay an interim, dividend on ordinary shares from profits earned during the same period, but as the practice has been to declare dividends on ordinary shares annually they will not depart from precedent." Waldas have made satisfactory profits, and with the increases •in selling prices now overtaking the increases in costs of manufacture the management states that it is confident of a good return and steady progress during the coming year. Factory production increased by 10 per cent, and the retail shop trade showed an. increase of approximately 10 , per cent, also, both compared with the corresponding period of 1936.
