PLACINGS DOUBTED
A MOOREFIELD INCIDENT
(From "Vedette.") SYDNEY, February 11. An extraordinary finish was the most-discussed incident of Saturday s racing at Moorefleld. The much-mi-proved Tuckiar won the £500 St. George Handicap decisively from Goorka, and The Marne was placed third. ■ Most photographs and oiilookers agreed that both Panrose and On Parade finished ahead of The Marne. Practically all the leading horses and trainers have departed for Melbourne, the Sydney team numbering over forty horses. Gold Rod's programme has been announced. He is to contest the weight-for.-age races and not the Newmarket Handicap. . Mr. ■R. J. Murphy said today that Cuddle had recovered from the knocit that caused her slight lameness in Melbourne. . She may be set back for a few days, but it is anticipated that she will recover. Bengal Lancer, Jubilee Singer, and Linklet were three beaten New Zea-land-bred horses at Moorefield in a three- and four-year-old handicap. Of the trio Linklet is liable to improve a good deal and may be one. of the handicap horses of the autumn. . The race was won by the Chief Ruler—lrish Lyric three-year-old Sir Regent, now owned solely by Mr. b. Crick, who formerly raced some horses in joint interest with Mr. W. R. Kemball. Sir Regent is a fair performer but not likely to rise to great heights. One of the most respected of Sydney's bookmakers, Mr. Hugh Emerson, died last, week after a very short illness. He had a deserved reputation for unfailing courtesy and was a real ornament to his calling. , . >. * On Parade, from a hopeless last, just missed a place over the mile at Moorefield. It is rather a hard mile, but favours a smart horse.. On Parade keeps on carrying fair weights and winning good races.
