A BIG RAIL-CAR ORDER.

' What is-believed to be" the. biggest r'ajl'-car order, ever, placed in" Britain has been secured by an English electric company in Lancashire. It is for 99 Diesel' rail-cars 'for the Buenos Aires Great ■■' Southern and Buenos Aires Western Railways. Amounting to about £400,000, the contract will provide a year's- work for four hundred men. In 1928 more than £11.000.000 was spent in Great Britain by BritishArgentine railways for renewals and development purposes. The figure has fallen to a low level in recent years, but is tending to rise again.
