(Received February 18, 2.25 p.m.)
SAN FRANCISCO, February 17,
Ten men are believed to have.been killed when steel and wooden construction forms • crashed from ths Golden Gate bridge and plunged into the water 200 ft below. Officials said it was inconceivable that the men could have survived. Eight •of the bodies are believed to have been swept out to sea: It is reported that a coastguard cutter recovered two bodies.
The workers were stripping tempor= ary forms from the deck of the bridge when a carrier wheel snapped. The forms swayed dizzily and then'crashed into the safety net, which was unabla to withstand the strain, and the rearing mass plunged down and the strong tide swept it out to' sea.
This is the first serious accident sine* the construction of the bridge.
