BREACH OF ETIQUETTE
N.Z.AA.A. OFFICIALS
TOUR BY JAPANESE
COMPLAINT IN AUSTRALIA
(Received February 17, 11.45 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day.
Severe criticism of New Zealand amateur athletic officials over the "secrecy" displayed in arranging the visit by the Japanese athletes K. Murakoso and K. Togami was made in a broadcast talk by Mr. R. P. Heathwood, treasurer of the Australian Amateur Athletic Union.
Mr. Heathwood said there had been a breach of etiquette towards the New South Wales Association in view of the negotiations for a visit by the Americans Jesse Owens, C. Johnston, Foy Draper, Glenn Cunningham, and others; The only intimation that the Japanese visit was on was when they arrived at Sydney. He hoped that the New Zealand authorities would consent to appearances at Sydney when the athletes were returning at the end of March.
