GOLF

MANOR PARK CLUB

"The committee wishes to congratulate members on what has been the most successful year in the history of the club," states the annual report oi the Manor Park Golf Club. "The course itself has been in excellent condition all the year, and at the present time is almost as good as it was during the spring. The policy adopted by- past executives in putting down an ]8-hole course has been more than justified, the Jack of congestion alone compensating for expense incurred. For the coming season everything points to the links being better than ever before.

"All revenue-producing items show an increase over last year," continues the report, "green fees being £56 higher, match fees £20; increased membership has also produced an extra £90, whilst those in charge of the members' wants are to be congratulated on showing £20 more than the previous year. The buoyancy of the finances are best reflected in the bank position, a credit balance of £97 beingshown in the balance-sheet. The season closed with a membership of 62 women, 87 men, besides absent and summer members. Many applications have already been received for the ensuing year. The committee, however, recommend that the membership be kept at a figure that will not cause congestion, and commend this action to the incoming executive. Inter-club matches were played for the Mary AJward, Watt, and Banish Cups, the matches being enjoyed by all concerned.

"The time has arrived when active steps must be taken to provide more up-to-date clubhouse accommodation. Your committee would welcome suggestions for providing ways and means of bringing about this most desirable project. A full discussion is looked forward to at the annual meeting. The thanks of the members are due to Mr. Lycett for the excellent condition of the links at the present time."
