LABOUR CAUCUS

DISCUSSION ON HOUSING

The caucus of Labour members of both Houses of Parliament was continued today and will be concluded this evening.1

The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) said that a, number of aspects of legislation and administration were being discussed, and the various points which had been raised were being carefully noted. As a result of the conference, the members of Cabinet were obtaining much valuable information as to the requirements of the different districts. This morning there had been a discussion on housing, and members had been invited to state how several districts, not yet included in-the.scheme, could best be served. There had also been a constructive discussion on the general housing policy of the Government.

Yesterday-afternoon there had been a general exchange of ideas between the Minister, of Labour (the Hon. H. T. Armstrong) and members on industrial legislation. ' [

"The caucus has been well worth while," said Mr. Savage, "and lam convinced that it provides. an excellent method of keeping the Government in touch with the requirements and ideas of the people. Such meetings certainly enhance the efficiency of our administration."
