MC HEATH LOOKING WELL

(Special to the "Eveninfl Post.")

DUNEDIN, February 3. All the fast gallops, except one, took place on the extreme outside of the course proper at Wingatui on Tuesday morning. The going was very firm. Horses with engagements at Tapanui and at the Dunedin Cup Meeting provided the most interest.

Moneygran was off before Hanlon was ready and was soon well clear. He ran six furlongs in lmin 22 2-ssec.

McHeath, looking as well as ever, gave Grand Finale two lengths' start and a beating when covering a similar journey in lmin 22 4-ssec. Toreador was beating Gay Circle until the last few strides of their mile gallop, and the latter had to be shaken up to' head off his rival. The mile showed lmin 51sec and the last seven furlongs lmin 36 3-ssec. Gay Circle went on for another round at about half pace. . . Red Lance (H, Anderton) jumped the sod wall and the double brush safely but very slowly. He should go better next time, as he has not been seen schooling recently.

Royal Pal (W. Cooper) and Octane (J. Richards) provided some interest in a school over five hurdles. The former shaped a little better than his companion, but both gave safe exhibitions.

When Brilliant Boa and Lumiere were approaching the straight in a gallop, the former's bridle snapped. J. Jenkins came off very heavily, but, apart from being sore about the right shoulder, sustained no serious injuries. Brilliant Boa was hanging in at the time the accident occurred.
