LOSS OF PAY

ENFORCED CUTS DEPRECATED

(Received February 4, 1 p.m.)

LONDON, February 3,

Under the heading, "The Wrong Way to Celebrate the Coronation," the "Daily Herald" points out that the holiday on May 12 will mean that workers paid by the day, by the hour, or at piece rates will lose a day's pay. Editorially the paper says that in many cases the cut of one-sixth in the week's income will mean disaster to the family. Budgeting day must not be marred by enforced cuts.
