The peerage conferred on Sir Arthur Samuel in the Honours List creates a vacancy in the Parliamentary representation of Farnham, Surrey, where at the last election, Sir Arthur, a Conservative, had a very large majority over his Labour opponent. There are now five by-elections pending.
