It is claimed that the bed of oysters has been-found in about 45 fathoms and oysters that have been sampled to date have been declared by expects tobe in first-class condition and very large. Those in touch with the position state that the prospects of a new industry for Otago appear bright and a definite pronouncement concerning the position will be made in the near future.
Experts have expressed the opinion that these oysters will prove a marketable proposition in large quantities, but before they appear on the market it is stated that the authorities will require to satisfy themselves as to the quantity of oysters available, and this investigation is being undertaken at present. ■ '
