HUTT VALLEY TECHNICAL COLLEGE
The Board'of Managers of the Hutt Valley Memorial Technical College met last evening. The principal, Mr. A. McFadyen, reported that in accordance with instructions from the Director- of Education the school would not reopen before Monday, March 1, nor would teachers resume duty before that date. Senior free places had been awarded to forty-five evening pupils of the college. The results for the pupils attending the Technical High School had not yet come to hand. The board decided that, in view of the handicap to senior evening students sitting for professional examinations, the Department should be asked to allow the opening of certain evening The principal reported that the alterations to the old wooden annexe were almost completed and this would be; used, as far as its capacity would allow, for an assembly hall. The furniture for the new building was now coming to hand. ,'■','',... , At the request of the Minister of Education the board made a careful study of the Atmore report and expressed its approval or disapproval of the various clauses. Generally the board approved the report except such clauses as seemed likely to destroy the individuality, or lessen the local interest, in any school.
