MEDALLIONS PRESENTED
The successful candidates in the commercial examinations conducted by the Wellington Chamber of Commerce were presented by the president (Mr. C. J. B. Norwood) with their medallions at last evening's meeting of the council of the chamber. The awards were: Silver medallion, Beryl K. Arkinstall (first shorthand, 160 words per minute); Kenneth James (first in office practice). Bronze medallion, J. McLean (second shorthand, 160 words per minute). Special merit bronze medallions, Ngaire H. Back (honours in junior typewriting, distinction in shorthand and office practice, and pass in book-keeping); Geraldine T. Aldvidge (distinction in shorthand, junior typewriting and handwriting and pass in office practice). The president congratulated the medallion winners on their successes. Miss Arkinstall and Mr. James were first for New Zealand in their respective classes. Miss Beryl ArkinstaU. the winner of the shorthand medallion, was a pupil at Banks Commercial College.— P.B.A.
