CLAIM SUCCEEDS
DAMAGES AWARDED
Damages amounting to £328 8s 6d were awarded by a jury of four 4n the Supreme Court yesterday to Henry John Simmonds, aerated water manufacturer, of Seatoun, who was knocked down by a car^and injured at Kilbirnie last October.- The defendant was Agnes James, a married woman, of Queen's Drive, Wellington, owner of the car, which at the time of the accident was driven by Leslie William Haighton, who was deemed in law to be her agent. t
The plaintiff charged negligence on the part of defendant's agent, and sought £100 special damages and £300 general damages. The jury awared him £78 8s 6d special damages and £250 general damages, and judgment was entered for plaintiff with costs.
His Honour Mr. Justice Reed presided. Mr. A. T. Young appeared for plaintiff and Mr. H. F. O'Leary, K.C., with him Mr. R. E. Tripe, for defendant.
