INCREASED C.J.C. STAKES

CHRISTCHURCH, February 2. The Canterbury Jockey Club announces another very substantial increase in stakes'for the Autumn Meeting in Easter week. The amounts of all sixteen races on the programme have been advanced. No race is worth less than £250, and the good average of just iftider £400 a race is the best for many years at this meeting. The total offering is £6375, an increase of £1850.
Both the Great Easter and Great Autumn Handicaps have' been raised from £600 to £800. An interesting event on the first day's programme is the Autumn Champion Plate for hacks. This will take the place of the Autumn Plate, and the stake has been increased; from £200 to. £425, which will include silver plate, value of £25. The distance has been reduced from a mile and a quarter to one mile.
