TAITA WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

' Mrs. Foster presided over a good at tendance of members at the February meeting of the Taita Women's Institute, and extended a hearty welcome to all.

It was decided to hold the annual picnic at a, later date than usual. Mrs. Dawson was chosen as convener of the Madrigal Circle in lieu of Mrs. Dillon, who has left the district. Two solos by Mrs, Dawson were warmly applauded. Miss Dorothy Davis, a visitor from Christchurch, entertained with two dances which were also much appreciated.' .., The competitions for the afternoon resulted as follows:—Best pot of plum jam, Mrs. Sage 1, Mrs. Joseph 2; nut loaf. Mrs. Sage 1, Mrs. Wilson 2; pastry tartlets, Mrs. Dyer 1, Mrs. Wilson 2; plain scones, Mrs. Joseph 1, and Mrs. Sage 2. Mrs. Boyes judged the cooking and was presented with a bouquet.
