At the wool sales ,11,993 bales were offered.' 10,740 being, sold "at auction and 2522 privately. There was strong Continental and Yorkshire competition and more extensive support from Japanese buyers. The market for all descriptions was very firm at closing rates of last week; Greasy merino sold at 37:, d. The average price of wool last week was £22 12s 3d a bale, or 18.3d a ib.
