HIT BY A CRICKET BALL

An unusual accident befell a motorcyclist at Gisborne on Saturday afternoon as he was passing the High School cricket grounds, states a correspondent. His passing of the grounds coincided with the hitting of a six by one of the players in a cricket match, and the ball struck him on the forehead just above the left eye. It was fortunate that the ball had lost some of its impetus by bouncing on the road before it struck the cyclist, or the consequences might have been even more serious. The young man was.attended to at a house nearby, and the wound required two stitches.
