RICCARTON NOTES
(By Tclearauh—Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.
A dense fog made conditions unpleasant for early work at Riccarton this morning, but with the horses doing only easy tasks there was a minimum of inconvenience. The fog lifted gradually and the sun shone brightly after breakfast. Polydora was sent twice over two schooling brush hurdles, giving a good display. Several trainers sent young horses away from the five furlongs barrier for education, some being allowed to run down the straight at a strong pace. Mr. W. E. Hazlett arrived last night from Invercargill with Golden Lap and Blazon. The former will probably jump brush hurdles tomorrow in view of Saturday's. engagement and Blazon will be given a run over steeplechase fences, as he is to compete in the autumn cross-country events in Southland.
Some other visiting borses are due to arrive tonight.
