OBITUARY

MR. P. E. HALLAM

Mr. Percival E. Hallam, of Lyall Bay, died last Friday, and the news of his sudden passing at the Lewisham Hospital, where he had successfully undergone an operation a couple of weeks previously, was received with general regret by friends and residents.

The late Mr. Hallam was a prominent member of the Lyall Bay Bowling Club for a number of years, and his genial disposition and kindly nature gained him many friends. His funeral, which took place last Saturday afternoon, was well attended. The chief mourners were his widow, Mrs. V. Hallam, and brother, Mr. Frank Hallam (Nelson). The president of the Lyall Bay Bowling Club, Mr. G. H. Noad, the secretary, Mr. C. Bell, with club members, acted as pallbearers. Representatives also attended from the Lyall Bay Croquet Club, kindred bowling clubs, and Roberts (IJ.Z.), Ltd. Mr. Hallam was born in Tasmania, but had resided in New Zealand for a number of years, occupying various positions in different parts of the country, until he finally took up a position in the Wellington warehouse of Roberts (N.Z.), Ltd., about 23 years ago, and in whose employ he had remained up to the time of his death. The late Mr. Hallam had skipped a rink in the Wellington bowling tournament during the recent Christmas holidays. The surviving relatives of the deceased in New Zealand are his widow, Mrs. V. Hallam, Lyall Bay, sister, Mrs. E. Bond, Auckland, and brother, Mr. Frank Hallam, Nelson.
