BURBANK DISASTER

FREAK DOWN-DRAUGHTS

LOS ANGELES, January 20. Federal aeronautical officials heard from the pilot, Lewis, the first authentic report of the air crash last week in California.

Officials declined to comment until they give their findings at a public heaving later, but it is reported that Lewis blamed freak down-draughts of cold air over the mountains, the existence of which officials have known and has been verified by a test flight in the same area.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Air Commerce at Washington has held an inexperienced pilot responsible for the Dallas crash in December.
