CHRISTCHURCH TRAMS

(By Telegraph--l'ress Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, January 20,

In face of a good deal of opposition from some Labour members, the Christchurch Tramway Boafd, on which there is an overwhelming majority of Labour members, decided today to make slight increases in ceftain fares. The increases are required to meet the added running costs owing to the recent legislation.

Tho increases are: The 3s weekly pass to be 3s 6d, the 4s weekly pass to be 4s 6d, and a reduction of one ride in trip concession tickets. The revenue (required to meet the increased costs is estimated at £26,000, The increased fares agreed upon will produce £10,000, and the balance will have to be borne by Ratepayers.
