For the concluding day of the Manawatu Racing Club's races at Awapuni the weather was fine. After heayy rain last night, the course was soft. The attendance was again large. Results:—
Apprentices' Hack Handicap, £115; 7 furlongs.—l Day Dress, 7.13 (Messervy), 1; 3 Cloudy Bay, 7.13 (Callahan), 2; 6 Going Gay, 7.11 (Farland), 3. ' Scr.: Free Gold. Neck; one and a half lengths. Time, lmin 31 3-ssec.
Tiritea Highweight Handicap, £150; li miles.—4 En Vidette, 9.0 (Lord), 1; l v Windward, 9.8 (P. Burgess), 2; 8 Trevelyn' Hold, 9.0 (Taylor), 3. All started. Head; head. Time, 2min 15sec.
Juvenile Handicap, £175; 5 furlongs. —3 Allspice, 8.4 (Hall), 1; 2 Icing, 8.5 (Peck), 2; Screamer, 7.10 (McFarlane), 3. All started. Length; short head. Time, lmin 4-ssec. Screamer finished first, but as the result of an inquiry into interference at'the foot of the straight, the placings were altered.
