ACCIDENT WITH RIFLE

AUCKLAND, This Day.

Suffering from a severe wound in the chest James Joy, aged 29, an upholsterer's employee, was admitted to the Auckland Hospital today. He was stopping with his brother at Herne Bay and is believed to have been cleaning a rifle of small calibre when it accidentally discharged.

One lung was pierced, and the patient is reported to be in a serious condition.
