CHILDREN AND THEATRES

It has been estimated by one Wellington theatre manager that local ferstrelease theatres are losing from £150 to £200 a week through the exclusion of children as a precautionary measure against the spread of infantile paralysis. The action was taken voluntarily, and while the loss over a period will be a substantial one the theatre managers under the circumstances do not grudge it.

Adult patronage in the evening is stated to be pretty well i|T) to standard. The wet weather yesterday made the theatres popular, the attendances helping to compensate to some extent for the loss of the children's patronage.
