DEMAND FOR RANSOM

TACOMA (Washington), Dec. 28.

' Dr. Mattson, a prominent surgeon, has reported to the police that a masked and armed man kidnapped his son Charles, aged 10, after a demand for money had been refused.

A note demanding 18,000 dollars ransom was left at the Mattson home, which is within two blocks of the mansion of Mr. Weherhaeuser, whose son was kidnapped in Ma"y, 1935. This is the first major kidnapping since then.
