MAN MISSING

NOTE FOUND IN BOTTLE

INVERCARGILL, December 28.

An ' intensive search of the coast from Ocean Beach to Greenhills has been carried on by Bluff" police and local residents in an endeavour to find William Middlemiss, of Pyramid, Gore, aged 55 years, who has been missing for several days.

About 4 o'clock on Monday afternoon, December 21, he visited the .Ocean Beach freezing works, and was seen later walking through the works paddock towards the beach. A bottle containing a note was found, and the note, supposedly written by the missing man, stated that he was going to sea on a raft. .

Up to trie present no trace of Middlemiss has been found.,
