Batlivala, barrister-at-law of the Inner Temple, has been appointed by the Maharajah Gaekwar to the Baroda State service as personal assistant to the Educational Commissioner. Her specialisation in legal drafting is being utilised for revision of the Secondary Education Code and the State hopes also to utilise her talents and experience in the reorganisation of women's education, particularly the secondary and higher stages. Unsettled Question. The exclusion of Mrs. M. M. Freer from entering the Commonwealth called forth a vigorous protest from the Australian Federation of Women Voters, acting at the request of constituent societies, states "Dawn." The protest was made on the principle of a British subject holding a British passport travelling in British territory being subjected to a dictation test in a foreign language without disclosing a satisfactory reason for exclusion. The federation urged the Commonwealth Government to amend the Migration Act to provide that all future exclusions of British subjects shall be the responsibility of Cabinet.
