PROGRESS IN DOMINION

In recent years there has been a considerable increase in the area.devoted to citrus culture in New Zealand. The total area is estimated to be. in the vicinity, of 1884 acres, comprised -of lemons 1300 acres and oranges 584 acres. At October 1, 1934, there were 85,973 lemon-trees and 37,399 orange trees in registered orchards, sind at the same date the following year the respective totals were 91,032 and 40,909 trees. The New Zealand Journal of Agriculture reports 131,941 citrus fruit trees (mainly in the Whangarei, Auckland, and Tauranga districts), and 2878 growers.
