STRUCK BY CAR
MOTOR-CYCLIST INJURED
(Snecial to the "Evening Post.") MASTERTON, This Day. As a result of a car crashing into him while he was holding his motorcycle at the summit of the Rimutaka Hill on Boxing Day, William K. Watson, aged 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Watson, of Masterton, had his left leg badly crushed. It appears that Mr. Watson was proceeding to Wellington in company with a friend, who was also riding a motorcycle. The friend pulled up at the summit owing to a puncture and Mr. Watson stopped alongside of him, but well off the road. While he was holding his machine, a car which came from Wellington crashed into him, and he was pinned between his rnotorj cycle and the fence for about five minutes before he was released. It is believed that the driver of the car from Wellington intended to j stop at the summit but accidentally ] put his foot on the accelerator instead of the brake. After the accident, he rendered every possible assistance to the injured youth, who was conveyed to his home. The motor-cycle was badly smashed. As far as can be ascertained, Mr. Watson has no bones broken, though it will be several weeks before he will be about again.
