OBITUARY

MR. ARTHUR BRISBANE

NEW YORK, December 26. The death has Occurred of Mr. Arthur Brisbane, the well-known journalist. Mr. Arthur Brisbane was born in 1864 He began newspaper work in December, 1883, as a reporter on the New York "Sun," later becoming London correspondent of the "Sun," and then editor of the "Evening Sun." He then joined the New York "World," where he was managing editor of various editions for se\ .n years. After being editor of the New York "Evening Journal" from 1897 to 1921 he purchased the Washington "Times" in 1917 and the "Evening Wisconsin" in 1918. In the following year he sold both papers to William Randolph Hearst, whose staff he thtn joined. He was a famous editor and columnist.
