SUCCESS FOR TRENTHAM

Arctic King gave Trentham horses their only win during the day when he outstayed his opponents m the Grandstand Handicap. As he had a touch of a cold last Tuesday, he was not particularly well fancied by his connections, but he showed he was none the worse for having missed a gallop or two, and his previous form kept investors who knew .him on his side* It was stamina that won the race for the Rabbi five-year-old. He was hardly in a winning position entering the straight, where Orac was still making the pace for Ingenuity, Hunting Mars, Boomerang, and Geitel; But passing the distance he began to accelerate when asked to challenge, and so fast did he cover the last furlong that he caught Orac well before the post and beat him by nearly a couple of lengths. As it was only his second start this season it was a very creditable effort, and he is in better order now to go on with it than ever he was previOra'c took control at the end of a furlong and opened a big break going into the back. Hunting Mars, Ingenuity and Boomerang closed on him at the three furlongs, but he had the more in reserve for the final stretch, though he was quite outstayed by another horse who came up from behind. ' ~,, , . Geitel also finished on solidly, but she failed by a head to reach Orac. Passion Flower, after losing position along the back, was running on again fourth. Hunting Mars and Ingenuity found the last furlong too much. The big disappointments were the favourites, Entail and Boomerang, the former being last all the way, and the latter quitting after being in a good position till the straight; both nevertheless should be benefited with the race.
