INVESTMENTS WELL UP
HEALTHY TONE EVERYWHERE
Totalisator investments at practically every meeting in the Dominion on Boxing Day showed a large increase on the 1935 figures, and in one instance the turnover was a record. The £102,798 put through at the Auckland Racing Club's Meeting was an increase of £25,869 10s on the corresponding' day of last year. The Manawatu Racing Club's figures, £38,143 10s, represented a 50 ger cent, increase on the first-day total of 1935, and at Taranaki there was also a satisfactory rise. The Dunedin Meeting experienced a comparatively small increase, but the Waipukurau figures were nearly doubled. At the Ashburton Trotting Club's Meeting the investments were a record for the club, the total being £31,682, an increase of nearly £10,000 on the 1935 figures. The Gore Trotting Club's increase was substantial, and the Wairarapa Trotting Club came out with a satisfactory advance.
