GIRL GUIDES

"CORONATION CAMP"

The latest number of "Te Rama," the Girl Guide magazine, has some good accounts of camps, these being a feature of the work, and a very delightful one. It is stated that there will be a "Coronation camp" which will be held at Chigwell, a few miles north-east of London. It was proved to be a good locality in 1935, when a large camp was held there by the Girl Guides' Association in conjunction with the National Council of Girls' Clubs. The camp, which will be called the "Imperial Camp," will begin on May 7, and it is hoped that it will be a very representative one. No official word has been received about arrangements to view the procession, but it is understood that a request on behalf of .the girls had been sympathetically received. The camp will close on May 14, when guests from overseas will be distributed to other camps throughout the country, where the country organisations have asked permission to entertain them till May 18. The camp will be held under canvas, but there will be ample accommodation in shelters, etc., should the weather be bad. It is stated that anyone belonging to the Guide movement who wishes to accept this generous offer should apply to their District Commissioner.
