RAIN DELAYS PLAY

The heavy rain that fell last night and again this morning forced the Wellington Bowling Centre to abandon play .in the Christmas rinks tournament until tomorrow; when the rounds set down for today will be gone on with if conditions are suitable. When the weather showed signs of clearing this morning the tournament committee decided to wait until 11 o'clock before'making a decision, but when that hour arrived heavy rain was falling and the players returned to their homes. . If the greens are fit for play tomorrow the fourth, fifth, and sixth rounds will be played.on the Khandallah, Wellington, and Seatoun greens. The first three- rounds played on Saturday resulted'in the following skips securing three wins each:— ■ Section A.—Casey (Thorndon), Gapes (Kai-ori),: McWhannell (Hataitai). V Section B: Munro (Thorndon), Smith (Kelburn). Section C—Hazlewood (Lyall Bay), Spiller (Wellington). The results of play on Saturday afternoon are as follows, skips only being named:— SECTION A. Children's playthings are lent like books from a novel "Toy Loan Library" now in operation in Los Angeles, California. Used and broken toys contributed to the library are cleaned and repaired, and then lent to poor children. Each toy is Llw>uchlv sterilised when returned.
