NO ENGAGEMENT

BELGIAN KING ANNOYED

BRUSSELS, December 24,

It is rumoured that 'King Leopold of the Belgians has become engaged to Princess Feodora Louise, niece of the King of Denmark.

The King's secretary, Baron Capelle, summoned journalists to the Royal Palace and told them that King Leopold was annoyed at the many reports of his intention to re-marry. "AH these are false and ridiculous," he said. "Since May the newspapers have had King Leopold engaged to six different women. Far from thinking of remarrying, the King continues to carry in his heart.an unmitigated anguish." his secretary added.

Queen Astrid of the Belgians was killed in a motor-car accident in Switzerland in August, 1935, when the King was driving.
