AUCKLAND TROTTING CUP

Man-o'-War. defeated the favourite, Oruarangi, in 4min :29 .2-ssec from 84 yards in the Auckland Trotting Cup of 1920, and was the first horse to break 4min 30sec for the race. When he won the following year Man-o'-War was on 96 yards.

The 1921 race provided something of a sensation, as the driverless Comedy Chief was ..first past the post. J. Bryce started three horses, ,Man-oVWar (A. Bryce), First Carbine (J. Bryce, jun.), and Wild Briar, driven by himself. The latter collided with Comedy Chief at the start and R., A. McMillan was unseated. Man-o'-War and First Carbine, owned by the late Mr.'J.;R.\ Corrigan, finished first and second..Comedy Chief was beaten in the Summer. •!
