VISITORS ENTERTAIN

SALVATION ARMY HOME

The Wallaceville Women's Institute entertained the men at the Salvation1 Army Home on the occasion of their annual break-up. This thought of cheer and good will at the festive season was greatly appreciated, and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent

The large dining room was beauvifully decorated with poppies and sweet peas, and the ladies provided an excellent afternoon tea. A welcome was given by Major Rimmer, manager of the home, to the ladies, to which the president (Mrs. Hopkirk) replied. Applause greeted the arrival of Commissioner and Mrs. Adams, and Brigadier Dry and party.

A very enjoyable programme was given, and at the close of afternoon tea a small present was handed to each man. The programme was as follows: —Vocal solos, Mesdames Griffiths and Benton; duet, Mesdames Hunt and Clyde; recitations, Jacqueline Williams and Jean Rimmer; Irish jig, Pat Cuneen and N. Calder; and tap dances, V. Smith and V. Hendry. Carols were sung by the boys' choir under the conductorship of Mr. Josland. The boys' singing revived memories in the hearts of the guests, and carried many of them back to their boyhood days. The accompanists Were Mrs. Tomlin, Miss Belhamime, and Mrs. Wallis.

Commissioner Adams thanked the ladies for a delightful afternoon, and wished them the best of all good things. A vote of thanks, moved by Brigadier Dry, was replied to by Mrs. Hopkirk.
