COLLISION WITH TAXI

INTOXICATED DRIVER

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

AUCKLAND, This Day.

An engineer, John William Hogan, aged 30. whose car collided with a taxi on Christmas Eve, was arrested on a charge of intoxication while driving. He appeared in the Police Court today.

The police said that the accused's car suddenly turned to the left into Union Street, on the wrong side, and collided with a taxi almost head on. Both cars were extensively damaged.

The accused was fined £20 and disqualified from driving for twelve months, the Magistrate remarking that it was the accused's good fortune that nobody had been killed.
