A NEW PRINCESS

EXCELLENT PROGRESS

(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received December 26, 11 a.m.) LONDON, December 25. The Duchess of Kent has given birth to a daughter. The doctors' bulletin says that the Duchess and the infant Princess are doing excellently.

The news was immediately telegraphed io their Majesties, to' Queen Mary, and' to the other members oi the Royal Family.

Sir John Simon motored to Belgrave Square, as the Home Secretary, according to constitutional practice, must be present at the ■birth of a Prince or. a l Princess.

A Royal salute in honour of the new Princess will be fired tomorrow at Hyde Park and at the Tower of London. .

The new Princess is the second child of the Duke.,and Duchess of Kent and Queen Mary's sixth grandchild. A son was born to the Duke and Duchess on October 9, 1935, and he was named Edward George Nicholas Paul Patrick.
