WARM TEMPERATURES

Special forecast for Wellington:— I Moderate north-westerly winds, freshening at times. Weather fair to fine and warm. The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today, is for light to moderate south-westerly winds to the north of New Plymouth, and Napier. Elsewhere winds will be variable in direction, with westerlies predominating. Winds in the far south will be strong, but otherwise they will be mainly moderate in force, although freshening at times about Cook Strait and on the South Island ranges. Some further scattered rain is probable in the western and southern districts of the South Island, but otherwise the weather will be fair to fine and warm. A moderate anticyclone extends on to New Zealand, its centre being located to the north, but a series of slight depressions continues to pass in more southern latitudes. South-westerly winds-have predominated over the northern half of the North Island, with north-westerlies or westerlies elsewhere. Winds have been mainly, light to moderate in force, but they have been strong at times in parts of the Cook and Foyeaux Straits areas. Some scattered rain has fallen in the western and southern districts of the South Island, but most parts of the country have had fine weather with cool night and warm day temperatures. ' .'. ■ . A north-westerly breeze, freshened somewhat in the afternoon. It was a warm and sunny day nij Christchurch yesterday, with a moderate wind between north-east and north-west. At 9 a.m. today a light north-easterly was blowing and the weather was fair. Dunedin's weather was calm and cloudy with occasional showers which totalled seven points of rain. Since last night, however, it has been fine.
