BIRLEY—PARKER.

All Saints Church, Moxham Avenue, Kilbirnie, was ;the. scene of,;a- pretty evening wedding recently when Dorothy Mavis, only" daughter of the late Mr. W. L. Parker and Mrs. Parker, of Kilbirnie, was married to Charles William, youngest son of Mri and Mrs. A. Birley, of Hataitai. The Rev. : Mr. Davies performed the ceremony and Mr. Smith presided at the organ. The church had been tastefully decorated by the bridesmaids. The bride entered the church, on the. arm of, her grandfather, Mr. C. Edwards. Her graceful gown of heavy white satin was cut on classical lines with a long flared train. The tucking at . the shoulders .formed a cowl neckline, which ■,was embroidered to the waist with seed pearls. The full.. sleeves fell ■ from - inverted tucks at the shoulders, into soft folds to the wrists and fastened with tiny satin buttons. The back of the corsage was finished also with satin buttons and loops to the waistline. Her embroidered veil formed a second train and was held in place'by a halo of orange blossom. ■She carried a shower bouquet.of white roses, .. sweet ~ peas, cyclamen,, and maidenhair fern; Her two bridesmaids,VMiss Edna. Cull' (cousin of bride) - and Miss Lucy Passey, were becomingly frdcked "alike in blue and ;apficot ;■ floral georgette with unusual necklines of shaped piping, full sleeves, and very full skirts, with long sashes of a deeper shade of blue. They wore haloes- of blue velvet flowers and carried shower, bouquets of deep pink roses■ and sweet>peas, apricot 'azaleas, and maidenhair fern. , ' ' . ■~ - A. "About 150 guests were entertained at a reception held in the Rex Hall, where they were received by ■ the bride's, mother, _wearing a ■becoming ensemble consisting of black lace frock, crepe de chine coat, and Jack Tar straw hat. She carried a bouquet of red roses and maidenhair fern, and the bridegroom's mother, wearing a smart ensemble in navy blue carried a bouquet in shades of mauve. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Birley left the next morning by aeroplane for Blenheim en route to their future home in Christchurch. The bride travelled in a smart" navy blue tailored costume .with navy and white accessories., Mrs. ,C.
