NEW DERBY IMPROVING

(Special from "Irvington.") CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Although he did not take part in. the finish of his race on the second day of the recent Forbury Park/Meeting, New Derby ran another good race, and showed that he is not far from the winning list. From 36 behind in a mile and a quarter he began smartly, and, after covering more ground than any horse in the race, he was one of the leaders, still on the outside, with half the journey covered. Racing against sprinters of the calibre of Grand Mogul and Tempest, it was not surprising to find him stopping in the concluding stages, and it is'only a matter of his staying sound to pay his way.
