THE BRITISH BILL
PASSED BY COMMONS
AMENDMENTS MAY BE MADE
(British Official Wireless.) (Received December '3, 11.20 a.m.) ■. RUGBY, December 2. The Bill to prevent the transport of arms and munitions to Spain in British vessels was rapidly passed through all its stages in the House of Commons last night.
Immediately after the second reading had been carried by 242 votes to 133 the Committee stage was entered upon, and the Bill was examined clause by clause without. any material change being made. The third reading was then passed by 182 votes to 88. On some minor points the Government agreed to consider certain suggested amendments before the Bill is taken up by the House of Lords and if necessary to alter the wording to meet objections raised. These, however, were directed merely to closing possible loopholes such as the transference of cargoes of munitions at sea to other vessels which might conveytheni to Spain.
