CHRISTMAS PARTY AT HUTT
The December meeting of the Upper Hutt Women's Institute, 'which ' was held on Tuesday, was very well attended in spite of the unfavourable weather.
After the business of the meeting was concluded, the 'time' was spent in the enjoyment of a Christmas party. Masses of delphiniums, Oriental poppies, lupins, and Iceland poppies decorated the room for the occasion, and wreaths of holly provided the Christmas touch.
In an opening address, Mrs. Scholes, who was the convener, eulogised the work for the past year of the president (Mrs. Griffin), the secretary' (Mrs; 'V.; Williams), the treasurer (Mrs. Wear), and the committee. Presentations'were made to these' and also td:' Mrs. C. Dalton and Mrs. S. Braid," leader and secretary respectively" of the drama circle.. . ' . ' ';' "' The originality of both the presentations and the games and competitions was a marked .feature of the afternoon's entertainment. The drama circle contributed a play, and Mrs. Harrison a recitation. ""'
A delicious-afternoon tea-was served, and Mrs. Scholes ,and her band of helpers were accorded,, a .very..hearty vote of thanks for; a most successful, party..- -.'■- ■ ../.. :'..- .-'.-, -. .",. ':;."., .
