LADIES' AUXILIARY
HOSPITAL PATIENTS HELPED
The annual meeting of the Wellington Hospital Ladies' Auxiliary was held at the'hospital,'there being a particularly large attendance.
Mr. Glover, chairman of the Hospital Board, presided, and congratulated .the auxiliary on its work, which involves visiting friendless patients, conducting the library, as well as providing comforts for necessitous cases.
Dr. Thome and. Miss Cookson also congratulated the auxiliary and thanked the members for .giving , so much time to brightening the lives of : patients. Miss Gordon (almoner) added her words of commendation and thanks. As Mjss Gordon's work brings her in touch with every patient she is able to notify . the . auxiliary what patients need most attention.
Mrs.. Snow (Hospital Board) said how'much the work was appreciated by the board generally, and remarked that "in doing good one gets the thanks."
Donations from the auxiliary funds were made to Mrs. O'Leary for the library and to Miss Cookson and Miss Gordon for Christmas extras.
Much interest was shown in Dr. Thome's explanation of the plans of the proposed new hospital buildings.
Officers elected for 1937 were as follows:—President, Mrs. J. C. Webb; vice presidents, Mrs. J. F. O'Leary and Mrs. J. Pow; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. H. D. Watson; librarian, Mrs, J. F, O'Leary; assistant at Victoria Hospital, Mesdames Houghton and Gayford.
