A fairly intense depression, crossed.New Zealand yesterday, and is now centred near Chatham Islands, while an anticyclone covers tha Tusmrm Sea and is advancing on to the-Do-minion. Moderate to strong winds, prevailed yesterday; west to north-west in the morning aboMt Cool; Strait, west, to south-west over tho North Island, and elsewhere south to southwest. During tho day south to south-westerlies extended over the whole Dominion, and this morulug aro of gale force on tho east coast of the South Island and in places In Cook Strait, but elsewhere are mainly-moderate to strong.
