ROSS TOO GOOD
JANNEZZO INEFFECTIVE
NEW YORK, November 27. Barney Ross won a decision over Izzy Jannezzo, in a lightweight boxing match today. weighed lOst 31b and Jannezzo/lOst 51b'. The challenger fought gamely but ineffectively against Ross's superior speed and hitting power. ... The champion had the advantage in every round. Jannezzo took the aggressive only in the eighth round, but it was short-lived, Ross quickly weakening him -with a volley of lefts and rights to the body. Thereafter the champion rushed his opponent in an effort to score a knock-out, but the Italian, though extremely tired, weathered the avalanche. At the final bell he was a badly-beaten man. He went down for a moment in the second round from a left hook and again in the fifth when he slipped. Both at close orange and in infighting he was no match for Ross.
