RADIO COVERAGE
REPORT BY EXPERTS
,NEED FOR IMPROVEMENT
The necessity for a more efficient coverage in New Zealand is emphasised in the report of two experts who were asked by the Government t.> pay a visit of inspection to B broadcasting stations. This was revealed today by the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. IM. J. Savage), who has just received the report. i Mr. Savage said he had not yet had time to go into the report in detail, but he had noted that the committee i stated that radio coverage in New Zealand was inadequate. That position would have to be improved, he said, as the broadcasting service was for all of the people, not for some of them. When asked what the Government intended to do,in regard to B stations, the Prime Minister said that in the first place the Government desired to purchase the stations, but if it was not possible to make the necessary arrangement the Government would arrange for a subsidy to be paid to the station concerned.
