BRITISH MUSIC SOCIETY

Dance rhythm in song was the subject chosen by the song group of the British Music Society for its last meeting. A talk was given by Miss Molly Atkinson and proved most interesting. Miss Atkinson possessed qyite a store of knowledge dealing with dances through the centuries and" national dances, apd the audience derived the greatest pleasure from her instructive and witty talk. After each type of dance dealt with in the lecturette an example was sung by one of the members of the group. Those who assistep Miss Atkinson in this way were Missas Christina Ormiston, Kathleen Anderson, Janet Stirling, 1.-Potter, Anne' Gilpin, B. Douglas, Elgar Christie, and Mesdames J. E. Ramsay, P. J. Towhley, and Nicholls. The pleasure of the evening was greatly enhanced for singers and listeners alike by the able accompaniments o£ Mrs. Gibson-Fostk' and Miss Nora Gray. The evening concluded with conversation and supper. This programme was presented entirely by lady members of the group, and it is lioped that one of an equally ■high standard will be provided by the gentlemen at an "early date, * The next meeting will be held in conjunction with the string group of the .society.. ■ ." ■■ ■
